Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a disorder that affects the brain, causes motor deficiencies and is the most common motor disability in childhood. More than 125 000 people are affected by CP in France.

This project entitled CAP “Changements induits par la thérapie HABIT-ILE chez les enfants avec paralysie cérébrale en âge Préscolaire”  will consist of an intensive re-eduction program for children aged 1-4 years who are affected by a unilateal or bilateral cerebral palsy and will aim at helping them to improve their daily life physical activity.

According to Prof. Sylvain Brochard (CHRU Brest), the objective of this project is “to see if we can influence the motor function of young children affected by CP and more particularly those whose body is affected on both sides.”  

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is part of this project and uses Gait Up’s inertial sensor Physilog® to assess the physical activity of these children over several weeks. The results of this study could not only change the current re-eduction techniques but also have an impact at the political level in changing re-education policies.

The French foundation “Fondation Paralysie Cérébrale” has allocated a budget of 1,5 M€  for this project that is conducted in 4 European sites: France, Italy, Belgium and Switzerland.
